Quick Connect Hydrant and Tees for Portable Troughs

The Kiwitech Tee is a uniquely versatile speed-coupling for polypipe. Under pressure the bare end of standard 25mm O.D. polypipe can be push-fitted and disconnected (using a bayonet action) into any of the Tee legs (no unscrewing of the fitting, no tools, no threading).
What makes the Kiwitech Tee truly special is a valve that fits inside any chosen Tee leg that is activated by pushing in polypipe. Inclusion of the valve turns the fitting into a very fast ('quick-connect'), inexpensive and very high flow Hydrant. Hydrants are natural companions of Kiwitech Troughs.

Note: Hydrants are not for use with direct mains water supplies. Due to potential risk of backflow there must be an air-gap in the system i.e. ball valve in header tank.

Hydrants and Tees

Polypipe Spec Requirement: Outside diameter (O.D.) should be no greater than 25.4mm with a minimum pressure rating of 8 Bar. Stents are required with polypipe of lesser quality.

Hydrant Tees

Plug in, valve activation, leads should be New Zealand spec Low Density polypipe (LDPE) with a pressure rating no less than 9 Bar. If purchasing LDPE from your local supplier Kiwitech recommends taking a Hydrant to test the pipe will fit as a lot of LDPE in New Zealand is over-spec (>25.4mm). Kiwitech sources LDPE for trough leads from Iplex.

Modular Hydrant Tee

The Tee Body has 1 1/4" BSP threads and a 30mm bore. Third party female adaptors (up to 40mm O.D.) can be screwed on to create a transition fitting.
Note: If water pressure is too great (e.g. feeding lines are greater than 25mm O.D.) quick disconnect of trough leads may be difficult to action. In this instance creating flow at a secondary nearby hydrant may be necessary.
