Exporting to Australia

We sell direct to farmers into Australia from New Zealand meaning we can keep our product prices fair (i.e. no middlemen or overhead costs associated with warehousing to recoup).

On buying direct you will be entitled to a discount that grows with your total lifetime spend reaching a ceiling of 10%.
We require orders to be prepaid before dispatch. Currently, there is only one payment method we accept which is bank transfer into our Australian bank account. We are not able to process credit card payments.

Freight Information/Cost

Freight cost is passed on as is. We do not make money by overcharging for freight.

We provide obligation free quotes which include freight costs. For tentative large orders (150kg+) we can provide approximate freight costs to start. Once a quote is near acceptance (product and quantities finalised, delivery location decided on, customer keen to proceed) we request a formal freight quote from our independent broker. Kiwitech freight is deemed ‘ugly’ and it is not easy to determine what the final pallet dimensions will be. We only pack large orders once they have been paid for or we are absolutely confident that they will be paid for. On the rare occassion freight has been significantly miscalculated we reserve the right to charge for additional freight similarly we will refund for any significant overcharge of freight.

DHL Courier (3-7 days) – orders <150kg

When orders reach Australia, DHL mostly subcontract out to Star Track or Australia Post. If these companies are unfamiliar with your address, it may pay to get your order delivered “care of” your local post office. DHL email updates about the status of shipments. There is no advantage in trying to consolidate orders with other farmers to reduce freight cost as the ‘one off’ consignment cost is <$5 AUD.

CaroTrans Air Freight (up to 2 weeks) – orders 150kg-300kg usually on a pallet

CaroTrans charges are for weight or volumetric weight – whatever is biggest. Note items like 100L Troughs, and Polypipe increase the volumetric weight. There is a minimum cost for a CaroTrans consignment which is around $365 AUD. Consolidating orders with other farmers can be favourable.

If you would like to consolidate your order with another customer, you will need to organise this yourself. Kiwitech will not compile orders from customers onto one pallet without express written request from both parties. Only one person or business can be stated on the pallet labelling and export documents. This person or business will be responsible for paying GST and import fees on the full value of all the product on the pallet as required by CaroTrans and the Australian government before the shipment is released from CaroTrans care. Kiwitech can invoice each customer separately including the splitting of freight charge based on weight of each order.

Usually Kiwitech arrange shipping to your closest port or trucking company near the port and it is up to you to organise trucking to your property (as we find the 'locals’ get a better rate). We can get rates to a local destination if you prefer.

Sea Freight (17-21 days) – orders >300kg on a pallet

Process much like sending with CaroTrans but the service takes a little longer and is more affordable.

Australian GST

Regardless of any freighting service we need your ABN number.
If the goods total is less than $1000 AUD and we do not have an ABN we must charge for Australian GST (10%). CaroTrans and Sea Freight stipulate that an ABN must be supplied.

DHL:
Goods only <$1000 AUD: DHL will not stop your order if an ABN is present.
Goods only >$1000 AUD: DHL will stop your order and ask you to pay Australian GST along with import fees between $80-120 AUD.

CaroTrans (Air Freight) and Sea Freight:
These businesses will email you an Authority to Act Form that, on completion, gives them permission to act on your behalf to process the shipment through border control. Regardless of goods cost, Australian GST and import fees between $50-$150 AUD will be charged before the shipment is cleared.
